Issuing a press statement on 4 April 2007 National Council of Churches of Nepal (NCCN) welcomed the formation of new interim government including CPN (Maoist) saying that it was long awaited by the Nepali people and it is an important step in the peace process.

The statement signed by NCCN General Secretary Dr. Rokaya says that the main responsibility of the interim government should be to provide security to the people and held election of constitution Assembly in free and fare environment ensuring the participation of all people.  In the history of Nepal, first time Nepali people have got this opportunity to make new constitution through the election of constitution Assembly and it will make Nepali people sovereign in real sense.  The statement has urged the all concerned to ensure the strong participation of all religious communities including Christian Community in the election of Constitution Assembly and social reformation process afterwards.
